Privacy Policy
Under California law, the relationship between a psychotherapist and client is privileged. That means what is said in a therapy session, stays in the session. Therapists can't disclose any conversations or information without written permission from the client.
However, there are exceptions. Therapists are required to immediately report suspected cases of child abuse or elder abuse or abuse to dependant adults. Therapists are required to immediately report threats of serious bodily harm to both the police and to the intended victim. Therapists also have a responsibility to the client to ensure that they bring no harm to themselves.
